Precisely one month since Election results were announced to the apex position of President of the Surgical Association that represents the heart & soul of the Surgical fraternity across the length & breadth of our great nation...

Experiencing some of the most grateful moments in my life in the past few weeks. Appreciative Phone calls & messages still keep coming in on a daily basis not only from those I know, but from the most unexpected quarters and indeed from many I never... knew at all - treasuring each of such ‘god sent’ moments 🙏

Also, the lord has given me a unique opportunity to see life at very close quarters, like never before...since the beginning of my Presidential campaign...which started around this time 12 months ago ...

The ‘one to one’ interaction with Colleagues that I have had over the past year...has taught me life’s many valuable lessons...’ how to be’ ... and more importantly ‘how NOT to be’

There are some, even those I have known well for a long time, and equally, few of the ‘high’ & ‘mighty’ in the Association who wanted to see me defeated...at all costs...

      However....unfortunately for them...The lord was with me...🙏

The ‘grassroot members’ from all over India gave me a thumping mandate - it is in many ways ‘the victory for the Membership at large ’

Being a very ‘straight’ individual - foolishly, expected everyone to reciprocate & be straight with me..

Life isn’t fair.. A natural human reaction is to bear resentment against people who were blatantly unfair ... Being ‘human’, I was heading along that path too...

The lord ‘woke’ me up - that’s NOT the way to live life...

Just because someone is not fair does not the mean this should be reciprocated in the same measure - ‘Forgive but don’t forget the valuable lesson with that individual and maintain distance’ - shall be my ‘mantra’...

As the new year dawns on us in a few weeks time & as the Festive Christmas season begins, I wish to remind myself about the importance of ‘forgiveness’... 🙏

The words from Carolyne Myss (a celebrated American author of many books) resonate within me...

      Hence, sharing these wonderful thoughts...

By far the strongest poison to the human spirit is the inability to forgive oneself or another person. It disables a person's emotional resources. The challenge is to refine our capacity to love others as well as ourselves and to develop the power of forgiveness. Caroline Myss"
