Dr. Raghu Ram achieved the unique distinction to become the youngest Surgeon ever in the 46 year history of College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka to have delivered the prestigious Tony Gabriel Memorial Oration @  the Annual Congress of College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka held in association with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Kandy.
Born in 1925, Professor Tony Gabriel's contribution to advancement of art & science of surgery in Sri Lanka was monumental. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of surgical oncology as a field in its own right in Sri Lanka & is widely considered the 'god father' of Surgical Oncology in the Country.
