Dr Raghu Ram and his family set up a corpus fund two years ago & the interest generated is being used to award the best outgoing Student in Surgery at  both at Osmania & Gandhi Medical Colleges.These two Colleges were chosen as Dr. Chalapathi Rao served in both these premier Institutions as Professor of Surgery for 16 years from 1967 - 1983.

Rather than giving away an additional medal, which is anyway routinely awarded by the College, the family felt that the awardee should be presented with something he/she would use in their day to day life...

The Best outgoing student in Surgery from Gandhi medical College was presented with a lap top at a glittering Annual day function organised by Gandhi Medical College Alumni Association in Gandhi Medical College on 24 September 2018.
