Key note address, Annual Congress, Chinese College of Surgeons, Beijing


Dr Raghu Ram, President elect of The Association of Surgeons of India was the Key Note Speaker at the Annual Congress of the Chinese College of Surgeons, which is being held this year at Beijing International Convention Centre from 17 – 19 May 2019.


This is China's premier annual surgical meeting that provides an education and training opportunity for surgeons. The purpose of the meeting is to keep surgeons abreast of the current status of surgery. Some 10, 000 surgeons and surgical trainees from all over China participated in this scientific extravaganza. In addition, distinguished guest speakers and leaders in the field of surgical care from 9 countries have been invited this year as Special Guests. World renowned experts from USA, Canada, Brazil, UK, France, Germany, India, Italy & Australia delivered key note addresses.
Delivering his address on “Transforming Breast healthcare in India over the past decade” , Dr Raghu Ram outlined the innovative initiatives championed by him over the past 12 years that has helped significantly improve the delivery of breast healthcare in India.
He had a one to one meeting with Prof. Shan Wang, President of the Chinese College of Surgeons to discuss strategies to develop a close collaboration between China and India with focus on improving standards of surgical training and surgical care in both Countries. 


As a step towards this direction, in an initiative for the first time ever, Dr Raghu Ram proposed to Prof. Wang to consider conducting a 3 hour joint Session of Chinese College of Surgeons along with Association of Surgeons of India at the next year’s Annual Congress of Chinese College of Surgeons to be held in May 2020, to which Prof. Wang was favourable.
